SXSW 2011 Picks – Interactive Portion
Today is Part 1 of my picks for shows/parties at SXSW 2011. Â Today, I’m covering my picks happening during the Interactive portion of this year, from Saturday, March 12 to Tuesday, March 15. Â I couldn’t find anything crazy awesome for Friday, March 11 that wasn’t “badgeholders only” or “sold out,” so if you know of something, get at me! Much obliged! Let the party begin!
Saturday – March 12
Okay, first up is the Mogwee Party, which you need to RSVP to here, which is happening at the world-famous Mohawk. Â Not the best lineup, IMO, but it’s something to get me into the SXSW groove, and I wouldn’t mind seeing Washed Out and Black Joe Lewis again.
Rest of the dates through Tuesday after the jump.
Sunday – March 13
Sunday finds me back at Mohawk for a pretty great free show from Barbarian Group.
Monday – March 14
This one has me pretty pumped, obviously, even though there’s a good chance I won’t be getting in, what without a badge and all. Â Nevertheless, I’m showing up SUPER EARLY and waiting it out. Â You need to RSVP TODAY if you haven’t, because that flyer up there says they’re closing it tomorrow (3/11). Â Just send an e-mail to rsvp@zynga.com
Tuesday – March 15
First off, during the day, I will be attending the Baeblemusic party, if only for a little while. Â I’ve been wanting to see Evan Voytas for a long time now, so I’ll gladly sit through one or two unfamiliar acts during the day to catch him. Â After that, though, I am ABRUPTLY leaving, as the next act, Brahms, are particularly terrible live. RSVP here.
That night, it’s on to the Panache party at Scoot Inn. Â The lineup has a few repeats from the Mohawk show on Sunday, but with the lovely addition of Cheeseburger (who I’ve been wanting to see for three years now) and Turbo Fruits (likewise). Â Plus, a repeat of Thee Oh Sees is never a bad thing. Ever.
Honorable Mentions
Thrillist Takes Over SXSW – My alternative plan to the Zynga party. Â I’ve been itching to see Royal Bangs for a while, and the Hood Internet is always an amazing time. RSVP!!
Buy tickets here. Decent dance party at Mohawk, good bands inside, including the aforementioned Evan Voytas.
As usual, a great lineup from Pitchfork, though I’m probably not even gonna try….God I hate the phrase “official showcase” so much.
